Our family begins the holiday season by cutting our own Christmas tree from the Chippewa. All you need is a permit, sharp axe, thermos of cocoa and a little patience. Away from the holiday rush, its great to enjoy the peace of the forest surrounded by winter white! Christmas tree tags can be purchased for $5.00 any Chippewa National Forest Supervisors Office. more

VISIT YOUR NATIONAL FORESTS SEPTEMBER 27

The Chippewa National Forest invites the community to celebrate National Public Lands Day (NPLD) on September 27th . This annual celebration encourages families to get outdoors, camp, hike and also volunteer for projects that improve those recreation sites. Walker Ranger District employees and the local North Country Trail Association chapter are sponsoring a National Public Lands Day event along the North Country Trail on Saturday, September 27.

Fall Means Change for OHV Use on the Chippewa National Forest

September marks the beginning of the fall hunting season and includes events such as Minnesota Hunting Heritage Week, Take a Kid Hunting and Youth Waterfowl Day. Each fall, use of National Forest roads also increases as visitors use OHV's to travel on Forest roads.
